MIDNIGHT SIN by Author MICHAEL TABMAN is the most explosive Police Procedural Novel I have read in quite some time.MICHAEL TABMAN spent three years as a Police Officer, and 27 years as an FBI Agent. MIDNIGHT SIN is his first Police Procedural novel and I suspect it is based on many events he experienced as a Rookie Police Officer, and some investigative techniques learned as a Special Agent with the FBI.
MICHAEL TABMAN has penned a NO HOLDS BARRED novel, taught, exciting and in part depressing. As a former Police Officer I, at that time, held the FBI Agents in awe, as they were so far superior to a State, County or Municipal Detective or uniformed police officer. I learned fast that the FBI wanted ALL the evidence gathered by the "locals", but would never share their knowledge of crimes. In my novel, based on a true story, I learned the murder of a close friend and one-time mentor, a reverred Robbery & Homicide unit Detective Sergeant COULD have been prevented had the FBI Agents just made a call and told him they knew the killers he and his team had been scouring the city for the eight months prior to his murder. After learning that disgusting fact, my respect for the FBI dropped like a bomb.
MICHAEL TABMAN's MIDNIGHT SIN is so blatantly honest, it will have many readers, unfamiliar with police work, thinking corruption in police departments is rampant. For every "BAD COP", there are 1,000 who are honest and dedicated to doing the best job possible in serving and protecting their communities with honor and pride. The "good" cops know who the "bad" cops are, and most turn a blind eye to them and continue doing the best job they can. One thing MICHAEL TABMAN has accomplished in my mind is to give his readers a very in depth look at the daily life of unformed police officers and detectives.
Gary Hollings is a Rookie Police Officer in a quiet Kansas City suberb, Westland Park. His Training Officer Mark Thompson is a somewhat jaded Veteran. Three weeks out of the Police Academy, Hollings and his partner Thompson are shot in a convenience store robbery gone bad. Fellow Officer Jim Burkett was able to fire his weapon, but missed as the perpetrator ran for the exit, Officer Thompson managed, although wounded, to shoot the bad guy in his ass. Hollings could not even get his gun out of it's tight new holster, but managed to sustain two bullets in his leg. He and Thompson would spend time recuperating in the hospital.
MIDNIGHT SIN is the story of a young, rookie cop who gets a hard education on being a street cop, and as a serial rapist becomes his personal quary, he is determined to be a good cop, and to ignore the "bad" cops who seem to be all around him.
MIDNIGHT SIN will keep you in its' clutches until the mind-blowing climax. I strongly urge you to curl up on your couch, no TV, no distractions, you will want to concnetrate on every word MICHAEL TABMAN has put down for your eyes to consume and enjoy.
FIVE STARS is the best I can award, and MIDNIGHT SIN by MICHAEL TABMAN deserves every point of every star.
I hope MICHAEL TABMAN will bring GARY HOLLINGS back, and give him a promotion to Detective, he will make a damn good one.

VERY EXCITING LOOK INTO THE LIFE OF POLICE WORK. READING THIS STORY MADE ME FEEL AS IF I WERE RIGHT THERE IN THEIR SHOES.
Bits of good solid writing mixed with amateurish descriptions of sexual observations. It's like every time Mr. Tabman introduces a female character, the narrator has a reason to discuss how her tits look or how he would like to "do" her. It becomes very awkward and predictable. That being said, I liked the plot and thought the story moved well. Good character development - I especially enjoyed the friendship and banter between rookie cops Bergman and Hollings. Would I read another book by this author? Probably not.
this was a really interesting story that keeps you stuck in it and want to keep reading (kinda like Dan Brown books do, though it's not the same kind of writing). what really made this better than other police stories was good character development. Most police stories lack that, and depend on trying to write in action that would only work in movie form, but this one really has all of it, and the action is really salient while reading it. Apparently there's a potential movie based on this book, which I'd be looking forward to. Will check out this author's other book, and keep an eye out for any more that come out - definitely a worthwhile read.
I am trying new authors since it is so easy to download to my and I have to say this is an author I will read more of. I searched and much to my dismay can only find one other book. I will be waiting to see if the next book (and I hope there is one) lives up to Midnight Sin. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of police life and the exciting pace of the story. Great book!
Not sure if he's recalling some real incidents with officers he worked with - interesting - maybe some more retired cops can add what they think
Bought for a gift. Looks like a good read. Thank you.
Very compelling police story. At times, I was on the seat of my pants waiting for the next exciting event. Well written and an excellent insight into the lives of police and the politics behind the scenes of police forces and their departments. Highly recommend this book.
